Once Saved, Always Saved?

No. This is not true. If you are in the Father’s hand, no man can remove you.

John 10:28-29

28 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

29 “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

You are the only one who can bring this about. If you endure to the end, die with God’s Holy Spirit in you, at the resurrection you are then a permanent Son of God. If you partake of the Holy Ghost and later turn to Satan and are overcome, you die in your sins.

When Moses came down from the mount with the Ten Commandments, he found the people worshiping a golden calf. Moses asked the Lord to forgive them or blot his name out of the Lord’s book which the Lord had written.

Exodus 32:32-33

32 “Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin–; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.”

33 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”

Each person is accountable for their own sins.

The Lord gave Saul His Holy Spirit. He later took His Holy Spirit from Saul.

I Samuel 10:1, 6, 9

1 “Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?”

6 “And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.”

9 “And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.”

I Samuel 16:14: “But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.”

I Samuel 18:12: “And Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, and was departed from Saul.”

David asked the Lord not to take his Holy Spirit from him.

Psalms 51:11: “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.”

John 15:1-2,6

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.,”

2 “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”

6 “If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”

Matthew 25:30, ” And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

The blood of Jesus Christ is for the remission of sins that are past.

Romans 3:25, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

If we sin after we receive the Holy Spirit, our Father forgives us and then chastises us for our sins.

I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I Corinthians 11:32, “But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.”

If Jesus had not died for our past sins, then when we died, we would be eternally dead, for the wages of sin is death.

Chastisement is judgement for our present sins because our judgement begins now.

I Peter 4:17, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

If we were not already judged, we would not be like Jesus when He appears. We would be judged with the world.

I John 3:2, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

The blood of Jesus Christ does not cover our future sins. Jesus Christ cannot be crucified a second time.

Hebrews 6:4-8

4 “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,”

5 “And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,”

6 “If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”

7 “For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:”

8 “But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.”

Hebrews 10:26-29

26 “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,”

27 “But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”

28 “He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:”

29 “Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?”

II Peter 2:20-21

20 “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.”

21 “For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.”

The Lord tells John in Revelations 3:5: “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”

If you are a Christian, you cannot draw back.

Hebrews 10:38-39

38 “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”

39 “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”

To draw back unto perdition is to draw back unto total destruction: second death.
